Dear AMMA Members and Allies,
We are at a critical moment in the history of AMMA and our work to change how America’s private and public sectors invest in PPE and critical medical supplies, which directly affects our industry's growth and security.
Just this month, AMMA and many of our members provided critical feedback to the government as it conducts 232 and 301 forced labor and trade investigations. Our comments, in contrast to the hundreds of others submitted by peers and competitors, were thorough and made a strong case for continued government efforts to promote fair competition.
In addition, AMMA members had a strong presence at the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR), a division of HHS, at the Industry Day in April. We are also encouraged that many will attend the Veterans Administration Day next week. These are key moments where policymakers and purchasing leaders are ready and willing to hear our powerful messages about why domestic manufacturers provide resilience and security to our nation.
AMMA and our members continue to highlight the vast disparities in the General Services Administration’s purchasing guidelines, where many products are either made outside the USA or mislabelled as Made in the USA. We continue to raise the alarm and encourage leaders to enforce the purchasing policies on the books and to align them with the President’s own priorities.
In the weeks ahead, we will host the next AMMA Washington, DC Fly-In on June 9 and 10. AMMA curates two days of meetings with government and industry leaders. Help us keep AMMA growing! This month, we will welcome two new members, Taromed and Asheboro Elastics. In April, we hosted our first membership informational webinar with two dozen attendees from not just the manufacturing sector, but the entire supply chain and support network. Our industry is coalescing at AMMA to make policy changes, and we encourage you to invite everyone in your supply and services network to join.
