Dear AMMA Members and Friends,
AMMA continues prioritizing strong advocacy and support for targeted tariff increases on imported medical supplies and PPE as a key strategy to protect U.S. manufacturers from unfair foreign competition. Our efforts have helped shape recent federal actions, including expanded Section 301 tariffs on face masks, gloves, and other critical products from China, with duties set to rise. We support the work of the Administration and Congress to create a level playing field for competition.
AMMA has also provided a clear voice for American manufacturers in national media, with coverage in CNBC and The New York Times, among others, highlighting the opportunities and urgent need for trade policies that support domestic production.
Our leadership and public statements have ensured policymakers and the public understand the stakes for American jobs, supply chain resilience, and patient safety. In addition to our trade advocacy, AMMA is proud to support expanded R&D tax credits to spur innovation and investment in U.S. medical manufacturing.
AMMA leaders also participated in a press conference in Congress with the bipartisan leaders of the Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party. The event focused on China's unfair trade practices and their impact on American businesses.
We welcome the New York Embroidery Studio (NYES) to the American Medical Manufacturers Association (AMMA)! With over two decades as a fixture in New York City’s Garment District, NYES is renowned for its full-service surface design and manufacturing capabilities, serving everyone from small businesses to high fashion houses. Like many other AMMA members, NYES responded to the need for critical medical supplies and pivoted to become a leading domestic producer of high-quality PPE, supporting frontline workers and public health with American-made products.
We also invite you to our panel during MD&M East at 12:30PM in the Javits Center in New York City. The panel will feature AMMA members sharing insights on US production.
