AMMA Newsletter - June 2026
Dear AMMA Members and Allies,
AMMA is on a roll. As we speak, we celebrate an important milestone.
AMMA is on a roll. As we speak, we celebrate an important milestone.
The US Trade Representative has reported its conclusions on the first of three major investigations, finding unfair competition in 60 nations, many of which have been using forced labor. Fighting forced labor as a competitive issue has been at the forefront of our advocacy since AMMA began. We will collaborate with you to continue our advocacy on this matter until the rule is fully adopted, and we will keep you informed of any additional USTR investigations underway.
Momentum is also building on the health care policy side. Earlier this year, CMS launched an advance notice of proposed rulemaking to find ways to strengthen domestic supply chains for PPE. It even identified a “Secure American Medical Supplies” designation for hospitals and others that prioritize American-made products. CMS is also exploring payment and reporting changes that could reward purchasers for domestic PPE production.
At the same time, just weeks ago, President Trump issued a powerful call that “All Federal Agencies Must Buy American,” and expanded it to include critical medical supplies.
AMMA continues to make the case that federal procurement policy needs to match the priorities of the President, the Administration, and Congress. Our members have advocated locally to their members of Congress, and our government affairs committee has led the effort to raise concerns about huge gaps between government purchasing standards, including products mislabeled as made in the USA or sourced overseas. Together, we are pushing leaders to enforce rules and regulations already on the books.

At the same time, global instability in PPE supply chains remains. PPE, like nearly every product, remains vulnerable to disruption due to a concentration of production in a small number of countries. In this moment, our advocacy is more important than ever as we underscore the importance of reliable domestic capacity.
On the media front, AMMA’s President Tom Allen has an op-ed running in local newspapers around the country and AMMA Board Member VP Donny Chan was featured on an industry podcast talking about domestic production and AMMA’s powerful voice.
That’s why we are so excited to see so many of you coming to the AMMA Washington, DC Fly-In on June 9 and 10. This third annual push comes as momentum for our issues increases. Our two days will be full of meetings with government officials and industry leaders. We will share our story with key decision-makers and shape the next phase of domestic policy.

AMMA’s momentum continues to grow, adding new industry partner members Computer Integrated Services (CIS) and Spartan Medical, and bringing together manufacturers and partners across the supply chain to drive the policy changes this industry needs.
Sincerely,
Eric
